Organization: Academy of Theatre Arts, Bangalore Little Theatre

Bangalore Little Theatre (BLT) was created in 1960. It is the city’s oldest and widely respected English language theatre organization, is positioned Community Theatre.  In 2009 an Academy of Theatre Arts was created within BLT to pursue social development programmes. One of the thrusts areas is working in schools and with children, with specific on the less privileged. The Academy views Education Enrichment as a critical contributor to the larger societal goal of purposeful education, with an emphasis on appreciation of systemic realities in society.       

Creative expression is seen as central to education. The work of the Academy includes innovations in both content and pedagogy that integrate –

  • Curriculum development (through research)
  • Faculty development (teacher training)
  • Materials development (texts, teaching aids, exercises, etc.)

Within the broader commitment to children, BLT has a more specialized interest in reaching the disadvantaged child and organisations serving underprivileged communities.

PROJECT ASSOCIATE - THEATRE EDUCATION

BENGALURU - INDIA

Areas of work for the current position will include the following:

  • Conduct workshop sessions for students and support training sessions for Teachers
  • Conduct Theatre Appreciation workshops
  • Contribute to the Academy’s Education research activities
  • Support development of Training Methodology
  • Support development of Teacher Training Material
  • Develop Content for workshops
  • Develop theme-based workshops
  • Develop scripts for short plays relevant for Theatre Education work
  • Manage Content in the Online Repository
  • Manage Academy’s presence on the social media
  • Support preparation of proposals for Theatre Education’s proposed work at school.

Experience:Candidate should be passionate about using arts to make a difference in people’s lives. Experience in theatre is not necessary but would be an advantage.  Background in Education, content development, experience in working with children is desirable.

Languages: Required: Fluency in English Desirable: Any two of the following Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam.

Candidates are expected to work at individual level and with teams and have special interest in education enrichment for students in schools serving underprivileged communities.  It is expected that there should be a willingness to learn and contribute to the team by taking initiatives.

Compensation: Will depend upon experience and capability.
