June 1, 2016Untitled, a play written by Vijay Padaki and directed by Shashank Purushotham, made waves in Bangalore’s avid theatre community. Shifting between two time-frames that were 20 years apart, the production told the story of an unwanted intersex child, referred to at different points as Indrani or Indranil. Padaki’s script struck a balance between being entertaining and socially observant, with some of its scenes even incorporating improvisation and audience participation.
Beyond the gender spectrum

The girl child on the other hand is unwanted and often killed. What if the child was neither? This is the very question that Bangalore Little Theatre’s latest production Untitled makes us think about. An original play written by Vijay Padaki, Untitled follows the life of one such child. The play juggles between two timeframes, spanning 20 years, observing the conflicts in a family that had an unwanted child and the present circumstances of the grown-up individual.
What’s in a name?
